One-Day Workshop for Racers and Crew
Spend a day with the organisers of Race Around Ireland who will advise, excite and inform you about the best way to prepare for the Race Around Ireland.
Ultra-distance cycling events are incredible to be a part of. However they require good planning, knowledge and specific skills. It is our goal to make this preparation as pain-free as possible for both racers and crew.
Join us as we present our Racer and Crew Workshop to help you prepare for the event of your life!
We will share what we know and give you all the tips and tricks we’ve learned over the years from experience of taking part in, organising and talking to some of the best ultra-distance racers in the world.
On this workshop we will present topics to help you prepare for the logistics of RAI . The workshop covers everything you will need to be in great shape as a racer or crew member.
If you are racing RAI as a team or a solo racer you will learn about the best strategies for finishing in the best time possible.
Topics will include:

- Route and Navigation
- Logistics of travel and administration
- Crewing and Crew Roles
- Being a Crew Chief
- Team Exchanges
- Training and Nutrition
- Strategies for going fast
- Sponsorship and Budgeting
- Promotion and best usage of Social Media
- And, of course, lots of tips, stories, and Q+A

There is plenty of car parking at the hotel and this is free on the day to participants.
The hotel offer a rate of €119 for single room including breakfast and €129 for two people sharing.
The Carlton also runs a free Airport Shuttle for guest of the hotel.
Who will be speaking?
Alan is founder of the Race Around Ireland and has a degree in sport science from Dublin City University. He is not only a qualified cycling coach but also organised a team of 4 leisure cyclists to take on RAAM in 2008, where they set and still hold the Irish record for the race. He was also crew chief for the first Irish man to finish RAAM – Donncha Cuttriss in 2011. In 2015 he rode as part of an unsupported eight person team in RAAM and set a new Irish record.
Emmet is the race director and route designer for Race Around Ireland and is an expert in navigation. He was instrumental in helping Donncha Cuttriss finish the Race Across America in 2011 with full navigation support.
Lorraine is in charge of administration with Race Around Ireland. She has also brought the skills she used during her years of experience working as a PA to senior personnel in London’s banking sector to organising the logistics of teams taking part in RAAM and other events.
